In a storied building built in 1921 sits the ZOO Bar, a narrow nightspot that’s been a staple for live music in downtown Lincoln since 1973.

Some big time acts have walked through the hallowed club’s doors including Buddy Guy, Bo Diddley, Albert Collins and Otis Rush.

Throughout 2015, a variety of bands will play on the same stage graced by those blues legends in honor of ZOO Bar’s 42nd anniversary.

“Now I know many of you may not have had the pleasure of hearing this smoking guitar powerhouse and singer…” “But I have to tell you this, you WILL be hearing more of this amazing artist. Her performance at the Blues Blast Awards was stunning! Once she started her set, a hushed silence fell over the entire crowd. It was one of the highlights of all of the performances at the awards show.” - Bob Kieser, publisher Blues Blast Magazine

Fronted by brothers Dick and Dave Pruitt on bass and electric guitars, with Michael Cherry on drums, the Bel Airs play a danceable mix with an authentic but eclectic bluesy-country-soul-and-rock-n-roll sound influenced by the likes of Wilson Picket, Slim Harpo, Howlin' Wolf and Johnny Cash.

JUN 10  - 6PM: Janiva Magness
The Bruce Katz Band’s music has the air of unflagging tradition yet it blurs the lines between genres. It is of itself and beyond itself at the same time. It’s like Mozart with a jazz trio playing at Junior’s Juke Joint on a Thursday night. There’s no name for it and it doesn’t really need one. At a recent show, Bruce was heard to say, several times, that “It’s all Blues.” I think we can go with that."
